On Wednesday 23 October, the European Parliament debated the need to strengthen rail transport and the rail sector in Europe. All the MEPs called for greater investment in rail, both for passenger and freight transport.
Dariusz Joński (EPP, Polish) said it was vital to focus on high-speed infrastructure in order to promote interconnection. “We need high-speed tracks all over Europe, not just in Paris and Brussels, but also in Vilnius, Sofia and elsewhere”, he argued.
