European Commission will deduct €200 million fine imposed on Hungary by CJEU from European funds allocated to Member State

18/09/24 (Agence Europe) – Hungary had until 17 September to pay the European Union €200 million in respect of a lump-sum fine imposed by the Court of Justice of the European Union for failing to comply with a December 2020 ruling on the management of migration flows (see EUROPE B13474A13). On Wednesday 18 September, the European Commission confirmed that it would initiate a compensation procedure, which will be reflected in the share of the EU budget allocated to Hungary. Hungary...
