11/09/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 10 September, the Council of the European Union adopted by written procedure a decision authorising the European Commission to negotiate, on behalf of the EU, a new Protocol implementing the Fisheries Partnership Agreement with Sao Tomé and Principe (see EUROPE 13452/25). The European Commission is also considering talks to amend the Fisheries Partnership Agreement with this country or to negotiate a new text for a Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement. The current protocol will expire on 18 December 2024. The EU’s annual public financial contribution to Sao Tomé and Principe amounts to €840,000 for the last year of application. (LC)
