On Tuesday 10 September, the European External Action Service (EEAS) announced the launch of the first edition of the fully-fledged European Union Diplomatic Academy (EUDA), following a two-year pilot project and the EU Council’s formal adoption on 21 May of the High Representative of the Union’s proposal (see EUROPE 13413/25).
“The objective of the EUDA is to provide academic and practical training on EU external action policies, procedures, and diplomatic practices to diplomats from Member States and staff members of EU institutions involved in external relations”, the diplomatic service said in a press release.
The annual programme will take place in two separate editions of five months each, including a one-month internship at the EEAS. Around 40 young diplomats from EU Member States and EU institutions have been selected by their respective administrations to take part in the programme during the 2024/25 academic year. The first programme began on 29 August and will end in January 2025, while the second will run from February to June 2025. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
