26/08/2024 (Agence Europe) – In response to a written question from former MEPs Carles Puigdemont and Antoni Comín (NI, Spanish), the European Commission said on Friday 16 August that it was closely monitoring the night train project between Amsterdam and Barcelona, which is included in its programme of cross-border pilot services. It intends to promote cooperation between stakeholders and make it as easy as possible to resolve problems, in particular by facilitating rail operators’ access to infrastructure through appropriate pricing and more user-friendly ticketing and access to the rail system. The MEPs had pointed out that the French rail regulator ART and the rail operator SNCF did not yet seem able to cooperate with certain European operators interested in the project.
