EU challenges Taipei at WTO over discrimination in wind farm projects

Brussels, 29/07/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 26 July, the EU requested the opening of consultations with Taiwan at the World Trade Organization (WTO). It accuses Taipei of imposing local production criteria in invitations to tender for offshore wind farms. This contravenes WTO rules, which state that no country should discriminate against imports. Wind power is a strategic sector for the EU, employing around 300,000 people in 2022. The request for consultations is the first stage...
