02/07/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 1 July, Eurostat announced that the EU imported energy products worth €95.5 billion in the first quarter of 2024, totalling 183.8 million tonnes. Compared with the same period in 2023, imports fell by 26.4% in value and 10.4% in net mass. Imports of natural gas fell sharply in value terms: 56.8% for gas in its gaseous state and 54.1% for liquefied gas, reflecting the fall in natural gas prices after the surge in 2022.
