On Monday 3 June, the European Commission announced that a further €1.2 million would be allocated to the European Union’s humanitarian partners to assist the victims of cyclone Remal, which struck southern Bangladesh and north-eastern India on Sunday 26 May.
Nearly a million people in both countries have fled inland to seek shelter from the torrential rain, strong winds and landslides. At least 65 people died, according to AFP.
