Tax gap between taxpayers with and without children particularly high in European countries, according to Tax Foundation Europe

Tax differentials between single taxpayers without children and families with children are particularly high in European countries, according to a study by the business-oriented think-tank Tax Foundation Europe, published on Friday 31 May.

In 2023, the average tax burden from income tax and payroll tax for families in OECD countries was 25.7%, 9.1% lower than for single people without children. Countries where the gap is higher give families more tax relief.
