EU leaders support three-phase peace plan announced by Joe Biden

The leaders of the European Union have expressed their support for the three-phase roadmap for a lasting peace in the Middle East proposed by Israel, the main terms of which were made public by US President Joe Biden on Friday 31 May.

The first phase of the plan includes a ceasefire, the release of all hostages, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from populated areas in Gaza, the return of Palestinian civilians to their homes and an influx of humanitarian aid.
