On Thursday 23 May, the specialist think-tank Ember published the first comprehensive dataset of standardised targets for the EU electricity sector, based on the latest National Energy and Climate Plans (NECP).
According to their analysis, renewable electricity is expected to generate 66% of the EU’s electricity by 2030, up from 44% in 2023, but below the REPowerEU target of 72%.
