New rules on European digital identity now apply within EU

22/05/2024 (Agence Europe) – The regulation on the European Digital Identity (EiD) Wallet officially entered into force on Monday 20 May. The text, the result of a provisional agreement, was endorsed by the EU Council on 26 March. It provides that every EU citizen has the opportunity to have a secure digital wallet in order to access most online services using a digital identification recognised throughout the EU.
