Italy must postpone launch of agreement to transfer migrants rescued at sea to Albania

21/05/24 (Agence Europe) – The opening of two Italian-run migrant centres in Albania, scheduled for Monday 20 May, has been delayed due to unfinished construction work, an Albanian port official was quoted by AFP as saying on Monday 20 May. Under a controversial agreement with Italy, Albania is to receive migrants rescued from international waters at a centre in Shëngjin, on the Adriatic Sea, and then process them at another centre inland.
