On Monday 8 April, sixteen European organisations called on EU policy-makers to strengthen the implementation of the Pillar of Social Rights principle on the right to long-term care during the next 2024-2029 legislative period, starting with the creation of a European long-term care platform.
This platform would bring together national long-term care coordinators, civil society organisations at national and European level, service providers and social partners.
This appeal, launched by AGE Platform, EASPD and Families Europe, is aimed in particular at the meeting in La Hulpe on 15 and 16 April on the future of European social policies (see related article).
“This is an essential first step to coordinate the urgent measures needed to address underinvestment, inadequate social protection, lack of person-centredness and staff shortages in long-term care”, write the organisations.
