13/03/24 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 12 March, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) announced that it had modified the methodology for identifying regional electricity crisis scenarios, following a proposal submitted by ENTSO-E on 8 January. The methodology, initially approved in 2020 as part of the EU regulation on risk preparedness in the electricity sector, aims to prevent, prepare for and manage electricity crises transparently and effectively. The updated methodology adopts a ‘top-down’ approach, involves earlier engagement of Member States and competent authorities, and focuses on extreme scenarios with a regional impact. ENTSO-E must now identify the most relevant crisis scenarios in collaboration with various stakeholders within six months. To see the ACER publication: https://aeur.eu/f/baf (PLD)
