Around 20,400 people were killed in road accidents in the EU in 2023 - a slight fall of 1% compared to 2022, the European Commission revealed on Friday 8 March.
Despite some progress since 2019, few Member States are on track to meet the EU and UN target of halving the number of road deaths by 2030.
