08/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – In the fourth quarter of 2023, seasonally adjusted GDP remained stable in both the euro area and the European Union, compared with the previous quarter, according to an estimate published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Friday 8 March. Denmark recorded the highest increase of GDP (+2.0%), followed by Croatia (+1.3%) and Slovenia (+1.1%). The highest decreases were observed in Ireland (-3.4%), followed by Estonia and Finland (both -0.7%). Growth rose to 0.6% of GDP in Spain, 0.2% in Italy and 0.1% in France, while in Germany the production of wealth fell (-0.3%). At the end of 2023, the number of people in employment had risen by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.2% in the EU compared with the third quarter. (MB)
