On Friday, 8 March, the European Commission announced the launch of two projects within the scope of the EU4Health programme.
With up to €12.2 million in funding, the projects—undertaken in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO)—aim to “strengthen health security and preparedness against serious cross-border health threats”, notably with regard to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear hazards.
The first project focuses on reinforcement and the improvement of prevention, preparedness, detection, and response strategies in the EU, the EEA, EU candidate countries, and Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). It is expected to cost €6.4 million over a five-year period.
The second project should make it possible to expedite the efforts and means specifically aimed at dealing with chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear hazards not only in the EU but also in Ukraine and Moldova.
The goal is to foster cross-border cooperation in order to respond to these crises and adapt the responses. Over the next three years, €5.8 million will be allocated to [this project]. (Original version in French by Isalia Stieffatre)
