26/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 26 February, the EU Council appointed Olof Skoog as the new EU Special Representative (EUSR) for human rights, succeeding Eamon Gilmore, whose five-year mandate expires on 29 February. Mr Skoog, a Swedish diplomat, will take up his post on 1 March 2024 for an initial period of two years. He was, inter alia, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations from December 2019 to August 2023. (CG)
