19/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Sunday 18 February, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, formalised the successful conclusion of negotiations on a new working agreement between the UK's migration agencies and Frontex, the Commission said in a press release. This working agreement will be formalised in the coming days and is part of wider cooperation between the UK and the EU to crack down on illegal immigration. During their telephone conversation, the two leaders also shared the view that the situation in Ukraine requires their full attention and underlined the shared commitment of the EU and the UK to peace and security in Europe. The two leaders also discussed the conflict between Israel and Hamas. (SP)
