Nineteen EU Member States in favour of proposal to derogate from EU set-aside rules in 2024

At the Management Committee meeting on Friday 9 February, 19 EU Member States were reportedly in favour of an amended proposal from the European Commission to allow farmers to derogate from EU set-aside rules in 2024.

As the proposal was not supported by a qualified majority of EU countries in a committee vote and there was no qualified majority against the text (this is a non-opinion), the Commission could approve the proposal. Under comitology rules, if there is no qualified majority for...
