Brussels, 09/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced, on Friday 9 February, that it had authorised, under the Temporary Framework for State aid during crisis and transition periods (see EUROPE 13138/1), a Romanian State aid scheme designed to support certain agricultural products in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The measure will have a budget of around €241 million (1.2 billion lei, the Romanian currency). The aid is aimed at growers of agricultural plant products, in particular winter cereal and rapeseed producers. The financial liquidity of these producers could be affected by the difficulties encountered on the agricultural markets as a result of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. The aid will reach eligible beneficiaries in the form of direct grants not exceeding €280,000 per beneficiary and will be awarded no later than 30 June 2024. (EV)
