For Věra Jourová and Didier Reynders, “rigorous” application of the GDPR remains an “absolute priority”

26/01/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 26 January, in the run-up to Data Protection Day on 28 January, the Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for values and transparency, Věra Jourová, and the Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, reiterated the importance of complying with the provisions of the GDPR. “Continuing to ensure its full implementation and rigorous enforcement remains our top priority. That’s why, last July, we presented new rules to improve cooperation between national data protection authorities in cross-border cases. This is particularly important for ensuring compliance by large multinationals”, they said. The second report on the application of the GDPR will be published in 2024 (see EUROPE 13328/6). (TM)
