Fall in imports of energy products into EU in third quarter of 2023

On 22 December, Eurostat reported that in the third quarter of 2023, the EU had imported €35.4 billion worth of energy products (65 million tonnes), marking a fall of 49.1% in value and 11.3% in net mass compared to the third quarter of 2022.

The share of oil in total EU imports rose from 9.1% in 2021 to 11.0% in 2022, and then remained at 10.6% in the first three quarters of 2023.
