19/12/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 19 December, the European Commission announced that it had taken note of the decision by the software company Adobe (USA) to terminate its agreement to acquire control of online collaboration tools provider Figma (USA). The Commission subsequently indicated that this ends its investigation into the merger. The proposed acquisition was notified to the Commission on 30 June. The Commission opened an in-depth investigation on 7 August (see EUROPE 13234/18). The Commission issued a statement of objections on 17 November (see EUROPE 13296/19), reaching the preliminary conclusion that the merger was likely to restrict competition “considerably” in the global markets for the supply of interactive product design tools, in which Figma is the market leader and Adobe one of its main competitors.
