17/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 16 November, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) published its outlook for the winter of 2023-2024, revealing a generally secure electricity supply situation in the EU and neighbouring countries connected to the EU grid. The risks are limited to remote regions and islands, including Ireland, Northern Ireland, Malta and Cyprus, due to possible extreme weather conditions. The report shows that security has improved thanks to EU gas stocks being filled well ahead of schedule, the expansion of the electricity generation fleet, fewer planned outages and stable electricity demand. Ukraine and Moldova, synchronised with the continental European electricity system, are actively working to resolve their problems of infrastructure security and import dependency.
