Elisa Ferreira, the Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, awarded, on Thursday 16 November in Ostrava, Czech Republic, the 2023 REGIOSTARS prizes to seven outstanding and innovative projects from all over Europe, financed by Cohesion Policy funds.
Ms Ferreira said that these projects “clearly demonstrate the added value of Cohesion Policy in responding to the needs of citizens at a local level”.
The REGIOSTARS awards are an annual competition organised by the Commission since 2008. They have become Europe’s label of excellence for projects funded under the Union’s Cohesion Policy, which promote innovative and inclusive approaches to regional development.
For the 2023 edition, 228 entries were submitted and 30 finalists were shortlisted to receive the top prize in seven different categories: a Competitive and Smart Europe (prize awarded to the Spanish project ‘Edificio Fundacion Pasqual Maragall’); a Green Europe (‘From mine to river. The Water Guardians’); a Connected Europe (‘Dynaxibility4CE’); a Social and Inclusive Europe (‘ProFem 2.0’); a Europe Closer to its Citizens (‘EuregioFamilyPass’); the 2023 European Year of Skills (‘TechGrounds’); a public vote for their favourite project (‘Cultural Arts Centre: Museum and Library’).
