More than 70 companies have asked the European Commission to publish the MDMS Regulation on Multimodal Digital Mobility Services by the end of the year in a letter published on Thursday 19 October.
“We have learned with disappointment that the Commission's legislative proposal, initially scheduled for June 2023, has once again been delayed”, wrote the representatives of major companies. To help them reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, including those linked to business travel, they need the European Commission to legislate on better multimodal and cross-border ticketing.
“One of the obstacles we face in cross-border rail travel is the lack of ticket information that transport operators share with booking platforms”, they argued. “We are increasingly looking for more sustainable travel options, but booking tools often only show the flight option”, they added.
They want transport operators to be obliged to allow all booking platforms to sell their tickets according to fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory terms.
In April, members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport expressed their concern about the delay in this matter (see EUROPE 13169/12).
