05/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 5 October, the European Commission launched a technical support project to help the Netherlands set up a national artificial intelligence (AI) supervision system. The aim of the support project, in which UNESCO is also participating, will notably be to examine current AI supervision systems and provide a set of best practices and supervision scenarios as well as practical options on supervision settings. This support will be provided through the Technical Support Instrument that the European Commission has at its disposal in order to help Member States carry out the necessary reforms and is in line with the work currently being carried out on AI legislation. Interinstitutional negotiations (‘trilogues’) are making progress on this issue. The most recent trilogue took place this past 2 and 3 October (see EUROPE 13263/15). The next one will be held on 25 October (see other news). (TM)
