25/09/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Data Governance Act (DGA) (see EUROPE 13234/14) came into force on Sunday 24 September. “The Data Governance Act will help to build trust so that all data is shared in accordance with European values. This law is an important step in the creation of a secure and reliable digital single market”, commented the Vice-President of the Commission responsible for Values and Transparency, Věra Jourová. In particular, the DGA should make it possible to put in place mechanisms to facilitate the re-use of certain types of protected public sector data and to develop altruism with regard to data, while reinforcing confidence in data intermediation services. The Council of the EU and Parliament reached an agreement on the subject on 30 November 2022 (see EUROPE 12847/12). See the text published in the Official Journal of the EU: https://aeur.eu/f/8qk (TM)
