25/09/23 (Agence Europe) – Victims of the August floods in Pakistan, caused by torrential monsoon rains, will be able to count on €1 million in humanitarian aid released by the European Commission on Monday 25 September to meet the most urgent needs in the hard-hit provinces of Baluchistan, Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. As the winter season approaches, the provision of cash, shelter and non-food items will be a priority, says the Commission. This aid is in addition to the €16.6 million allocated in July for the most vulnerable populations (including €15 million for humanitarian organisations in Pakistan and to support Afghan refugees and their host communities, and €1.5 million for disaster preparedness), whether they are victims of conflict or still suffering the consequences of the 2022 floods (see EUROPE 13014/13).
