20/09/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 20 September, the Business Software Alliance (BSA) published a document in which it calls on the co-legislators to ensure, as part of the inter-institutional negotiations on artificial intelligence (AI) (see EUROPE 13253/4), that the concept of ‘high’ risk offers “the necessary flexibility and legal certainty” and that a “precise and feasible” definition of high-risk use cases is included in the text. Still on the subject of definitions, the BSA wants the definition of AI to be “in line with that of other global partners”. The post-marketing application of AI systems should be “balanced and in line with EU legislation”. In addition, the BSA believes that guarantees in terms of balance should be provided so that “the responsibilities of suppliers and users are clearly defined” along the AI value chain. (TM)
