18/09/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 18 September, the Council of the European Union gave its final approval to the Regulation on the circulation of information in terrorism cases. This text, on which a final agreement was reached last December (see EUROPE 13085/16), is part of the ‘modernising justice’ package and aims to put in place a digital infrastructure for the management and storage of data linked to terrorism. The role of the EU Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation, Eurojust, has also been strengthened. From now on, each Member State will be obliged to send the Agency, electronically, all the details of the investigations it launches concerning terrorist acts. The Regulation is due to come into force on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. (Original version in French by Nithya Paquiry)
