Entry into force of simplified EU rules for certain company mergers that do not raise competition concerns

01/09/2023 (Agence Europe)The European Commission announced, on Friday 1 September, the entry into force of the package of measures it adopted on 20 April 2023, designed to simplify and streamline the procedures for reviewing certain mergers that do not raise competition concerns (see EUROPE 13166/25). The new rules are designed, in particular, to broaden and clarify the categories of cases dealt with under the simplified merger control procedure. In addition, the amount of information required to notify mergers to the Commission has been reduced. In addition, the document transmission process should be improved. The package of measures consists of three texts: a revised implementing regulation, a communication on the simplified procedure and another on the transmission of documents.
