Brussels, 20/07/2023 (Agence Europe) – A survey carried out on Thursday 20 July by the European Commission’s polling tool reveals that the majority of Europeans (58%) want to speed up the transition to a green economy. 93% believe that climate change is a serious problem for the world, and more than a third feel personally exposed to environmental risks, especially in the countries of Southern Europe, Poland, and Hungary. 84% consider the fight against climate change to be a priority for improving public health, and 63% believe that preparing for the effects of climate change would benefit EU citizens. In economic terms, 73% recognise that the cost of climate-related damage is higher than the investment required for the green transition.
