EU Member States approve French initiative to bring carbon markets into line with Paris Agreement ahead of Summit for a New Global Financial Pact

On Friday 16 June, the Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper I) gave their assent to the European Commission’s approval, on behalf of the EU, of the “Call to action for Paris aligned Carbon Markets”. This initiative, which is part of the results of the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact, was proposed by France as the organiser of this event, which is to be held in Paris on 22 and 23 June.
