09/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 8 June, European Commission spokesman Eric Mamer announced that the College of European Commissioners would be travelling to Madrid on Monday 3 July, rather than on 6 and 7 July as previously envisaged. “The President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, have agreed that the visit of the College to the Spanish Presidency of the Council of Ministers will be brought forward to 3 July in Madrid”, he said on Twitter. Conversely, the European Parliament’s political groups, who were due to travel to Madrid on 26 June, have postponed their trip due to the dissolution of the Spanish Parliament ahead of the general elections on 23 July (see EUROPE 13194/28). “There is no new date, but the groups are maintaining the (principle of) the trip”, a source told EUROPE on Friday 9 June.
