EU Council approves agreement on illegal fishing subsidies in Geneva

25/05/23 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 25 May, the Trade Ministers of the 27 EU Member States approved the World Trade Organization (WTO) agreement on illegal fishing subsidies (see EUROPE B13165A14). It prohibits subsidies for illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activities. This approval allows the EU to ratify the agreement in Geneva, which can enter into force once two thirds of the members have ratified it.
