EU cancels its reception on 9 May to avoid presence of Itamar Ben-Gvir

08/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – The EU delegation in Israel announced on Monday 8 May the cancellation of its diplomatic reception to celebrate Europe Day on 9 May, due to the announced presence of the controversial Israeli Minister for National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir. “We have decided to cancel the diplomatic reception, as we do not want to offer a platform to someone whose views contradict the values the EU stands for”, the delegation explained in a tweet.
