EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT PLENARY / Russia
European Parliament demands immediate release of political opponents Vladimir Kara-Murza and Alexei Navalny
Brussels, 20/04/2023 (Agence Europe)

On Thursday 20 April, MEPs strongly condemned the politically motivated conviction of Russian political opponent Vladimir Kara-Murza, demanding his “immediate and unconditional” release along with that of Alexei Navalny and all other political prisoners (see EUROPE B13163A18).

In the joint resolution it adopted (508 votes in favour, 14 against and 31 abstentions), the European Parliament wants the EU and the UK to coordinate efforts to secure Mr Kara-Murza’s release
