27/03/23 (Agence Europe) – More than 60 interest groups and companies, largely from the renewable energy sector, call in a joint letter for the European Commission’s Delegated Act on Renewable Hydrogen and Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBOs) to be approved by the Member States and the European Parliament. A resolution objecting to the delegated act will be voted on Tuesday 28 March in the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. However, the signatories insist on the importance of the additionality principle included in this delegated act, which states that energy for hydrogen production must be in addition to existing production in order to encourage the deployment of new low-carbon production infrastructures, and recall that investments in renewable energies “will only be possible with a stable regulatory framework that provides clear rules across countries”.
