13/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) announced on Monday 13 March that three of its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) have launched a collaboration to explore synergies in innovation, training and investment for circular fashion in Europe. The EIT Culture and Creativity, which is leading the initiative, has agreed with the EIT Manufacturing and EIT Climate on a new innovation programme and implementation calendar in support of the European Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles (see EUROPE 12923/19). A first workshop was held in Aachen, attended by Christian Ehler MEP (EPP, German), representatives from 20 companies, research centres and European associations. The programme will aim, among other things, to help reintroduce in Europe the textile production steps that have been outsourced and to instil sustainable practices in consumer behaviour. (EV)
