The European Commission decided on Wednesday 1 March to appoint Marie Bourjou as Director of ‘Assurance and Audit’ for its Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI).
The date of effect of her appointment is to be determined later.
Marie Bourjou, a Belgian national, has a sound knowledge of the main audit working methods and the Commission’s overall audit strategy, as well as expertise in agriculture and rural development gained during her 20 years of experience in DG AGRI. Ms Bourjou has been acting Director of Resources at DG AGRI and Head of the ‘Budget Management’ unit since 2022.
In addition, the Commission has appointed Erica Gerretsen (of Dutch and French nationality) as Director of ‘Human Development, Migration, Governance & Peace’ for its DG for International Partnerships (DG INTPA). The effective date of her appointment will be determined at a later date.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo Vella of Malta has been appointed as the new Head of the European Commission Representation in Valletta. In this capacity, he will be the official representative of the European Commission in Malta, under the political authority of the President, Ursula von der Leyen. Finally, Claudia Colla (Italian) has been appointed as Head of the Regional Office in Milan, in Italy. The effective date of their appointment will be determined at a later stage.
