13/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – Croatian Christian Democrat Željana Zovko called on Friday 13 January for an “urgent” lifting of the blockade of the Lachin Corridor in Azerbaijan, which links Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia and has prevented the delivery of essential goods and services to the region for a month (see EUROPE 13084/31). “The blockade should be lifted without delay in order to avoid any humanitarian implications and an irreparable negative impact on the peace process”, the European Parliament rapporteur for Azerbaijan added in a statement. He called for the resumption of political dialogue between the two countries, in consultation with the European Union, in order to prevent any further escalation. The EU is considering sending a new CSDP mission to Armenia to contribute to peace in Nagorno-Karabakh (see EUROPE 13085/28). (MB)
