European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties validates enlargement of Schengen area to include Croatia

The European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE) adopted by 45 votes to 8 with 5 abstentions on Tuesday 25 October the enlargement of the Schengen free movement area to include Croatia, approving the report by Portuguese MEP Paulo Rangel (EPP).

In December 2021, the EU Council confirmed that Croatia had fulfilled all the necessary conditions for the full application of the Schengen rules. MEPs therefore urge the Council to continue the process and adopt a final decision to...
