29/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – The 12th meeting of the EU/Israel Association Council will be held on Monday 3 October in Brussels in the presence of Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid. According to an EU Council statement, topics of discussion include “global challenges” such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the energy crisis and food insecurity, as well as bilateral cooperation issues such as trade, science and technology, respect for human rights and democratic principles, and the fight against antisemitism. On the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the EU will reiterate its preference for a political solution leading to the creation of two states living side by side in security, and will call on the Israeli authorities to shed full light on the murder of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh (see EUROPE 13030/14).
