23/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – Following the European Commission’s proposal in July (see EUROPE 12994/14), Ukraine was formally invited to join the convention on a common transit procedure by the EU-CTC Joint Committee (‘common transit country’) on Friday 23 September. This scheme facilitates customs procedures and has been adopted by the EU and seven other countries: Iceland, North Macedonia, Norway, the United Kingdom, Serbia, Switzerland and Turkey. Ukraine has also been invited by the EU-CTC Joint Committee to join a second convention, which simplifies formalities in trade in goods.
