Pegasus software, PEGA committee coordinators criticise Polish government’s refusal to cooperate with them

15/09/2022 (Agence Europe)The coordinators of the PEGA Committee of Inquiry into the Pegasus software condemned in a joint statement on Thursday 15 September the Polish government’s refusal to meet with PEGA members during their fact-finding mission to the country from 19 to 21 September. Warsaw also refused to participate in a hearing on 15 September with Polish victims of the Pegasus software. “We strongly condemn the Polish government’s refusal to cooperate with the committee of enquiry. We believe that such meetings would give the government an opportunity to respond to reports of the illegal use of intrusive surveillance against people considered to be political opponents”. The signatories are: Juan Ignacio Zoido Álvarez (EPP, Spanish), Hannes Heide (S&D, Austrian), Róża Thun (Renew Europe, Polish), Sophia in ’t Veld (Renew Europe, Dutch), Saskia Bricmont (Greens/EFA, Belgian) and Anne-Sophie Pelletier (The Left, French).
