European Commission allocates €5 million to support Ukrainian artists

15/09/2022 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday, 14 September, the European Commission announced that €5 million would be allocated to support Ukrainian artists and cultural organisations in their country or in any country participating in the ‘Creative Europe’ programme (see EUROPE 12925/6)The European Commission is launching a special call for Ukraine as part of the 2023 work programme. In a statement, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel declared, “I am very pleased to know that we can contribute to help[ing] Ukrainians displaced by the war in Ukraine or in one of the [countries participating in] Creative Europe have access to culture”. The special call will select three projects for funding as well as small initiatives at the local level. The call is open until Tuesday, 29 November. (AD)
