13/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 13 September, the European Commission approved three transnational cooperation programmes (Interreg B) for North West Europe, the Atlantic and Antarctic as part of the 2021-2027 cohesion policy. The €467 million investments will come from the European Regional Development Fund and will focus on environmental issues. The Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic programme (€43 million) will support projects related to energy efficiency, climate change adaptation and risk prevention, and the transition to a circular economy. The Interreg North West Europe programme (€310 million) will fund initiatives working on climate and environmental resilience, the energy transition and the circular economy. Finally, the Interreg Atlantic Area programme (€113 million) will promote cooperation in the field of the green and blue economy through projects related to innovation, youth employability and governance.
